Life lately

Each semester, we are given three sick days, or rather 'personal' days. This means that you can call in sick, even if you aren't. It can be great buuuut, when someone isn't there we have to cover their classes - so sometimes it isn't so great! Last term we only used two of our sick days, as we did the right thing and requested the days off rather than just not pitching to work, and we were access denied! We were rather grumpy about it but, having an extra day off this term meant that we could take last Friday off just for fun! (Well Ross actually ended up getting a bit of a cold that day so it was kind of a sick day.)

We had some errands to run in town, so we got them done quickly and treated ourselves to some ice cream at The Long @ Times Square. If you're ever in HCM you have to go there! The ice cream is incredible! So rich and creamy and they have some of the most amazing flavours. They're also very generous with tasters. We had three scoops... salted caramel and cashew nuts, cheesecake with caramel swirls, and then something with macadamia nuts but we can't really remember what it was. All of them were insanely good. They have some really interesting flavours, like 'corn', but we decided against trying it!

That Friday was Craig's birthday. Last year I told him that I'd make him a lime cheesecake just like we used to have in res at Rhodes, but then Craig went away and a bunch of other stuff came up so it just never happened. I got to it this year and it was great... suuuper rich and delicious! We went for some drinks at Snowman when everyone had finished work.

There's a student in one of Mel's classes (Lisa 2) who loves to wear interesting things in her hair, and every week she has new shoes! These are some of the beauts that she wore to school recently:

Mel's helmet was stolen from one the local shopping centers. We were a bit upset because it was a really nice helmet. Oh well, these things happen and we've managed to go for a year without either of them being stolen so, touch wood that it doesn't happen again! Our gas ran out for our stove the same day, so we called in the gas company and they were kind enough to bring us a nice metal bowl (just for funsies)! Do you think it will make a good substitute for her helmet? Last time we needed gas, we were brought a bag of sugar. Random gifts, but useful none the less!
