We started of by visiting the Bitexco Tower, a very well known site on the Ho Chi Minh skyline, on Friday night. We went up to the bar on the 52nd floor. While it certainly is not the cheapest place to get a beer in town, it's certainly one of the best view points you will find. We were totally in awe of how huge and sprawling the city is. I mean we knew it was big but man... as far as we could see there were just buildings.
After a beer up in the clouds, we decided to head back to earth and to one of our favourite spots in the city... The Spotted Cow. The Spotted Cow has this magical quality of making you instantly feel like you could be in a bar back home. They have fairly reasonably priced drinks, delicious food and a great playlist. We were stoked to learn that teachers get a 20% discount which will certainly help to make our trips there even more frequent! After that, we decided to head home for some much needed sleep as we had a big day planned for Saturday.
On Saturday, we went for one of the best massages we've ever had! It was an hour full body massage with a hot stone finish. They started off by placing cucumber slices all over our faces which was so refreshing and left us feeling great. After massaging us, they stretched us out as well which was very unexpected and a bit weird at first but it actually felt great!
We decided to go and get a bite to eat on our way home as lying still and relaxing for an hour really takes it out of you. We decided to try out one of the local coffee chains, Highlands Coffee, as a friend had said that they made really good Banh Mi's (bread rolls). After a delicious sandwich, coffee and some cake, we headed home (in the rain) for a nap. Since we had Sunday off, we decided to stay up to watch the Sharks game. Unfortunately the game was a late one and it only started at midnight our time so we had a long wait before we headed out to the pub to watch it. Our internet is a bit too erratic to stream rugby at home so we went to Harry Casuals, a bar run by a South African so we know that Super Rugby will always be shown. Unfortunately we missed a large portion on the first half due to a very drunk Korean man shouting at his phone and disgracing us with his antics until he eventually thought he was being kicked out (he wasn't) and he left. Luckily we didn't miss too much since it wasn't the greatest game to watch.
On Sunday we slept in very, very late, ate some breakfast and then relaxed on the couch. We needed a few groceries so we headed off to the mall to browse the sales, have some tea and cake and get some groceries. The rest of the day was spent watching series and all round relaxing.
Oh weekends you are great things!
