The market

Something quite fantastic about our apartment is that it is a 5 minute walk to the market. Now anybody who enjoys going to the local farmers’ market would absolutely love this! It’s busy, it’s loud, there are piles of fresh produce everywhere, and you see all sorts of live water creatures including prawns, different varieties of fish, eels, different kinds of molluscs and even frogs. The best part of all is that things are so cheap!


The market takes place on the pavement and spills onto the road so there are pedestrians as well as people on their motorbikes stopping for some drive-through fresh produce!

Our purchases (that's half a kg of prawns!)... the whole lot came to about R78.50!!

You might be thinking why one lonely carrot? Well that thing was HUGE and lasted us about 4 meals!
