The long road home - Part 1

On Tuesday morning, we woke up, packed the car and then headed to Access Park for a bit of factory/discount shopping. After picking up some bargains, we headed to Burger King (again) for some lunch because, "Who knows when next we're going to get to eat it again" - (Mel googled - there's one in Ho Chi Minh City so very soon, haha). After a few wrong turns, we made it to the N1 and started on our journey to Beaufort West. The road started off with beautiful scenery and grapes for as far as you can see, and then it became incredibly boring! There were a lot of stop/go's along the way which held us up for about an hour and 45 minutes!

Grapes for miles!

There was a huge storm at one of the stop go's.

Beautiful skies after the storm.
After a good night's rest in Beaufort West, we grabbed a quick breakfast at Spur and caught up on some blogging before heading off to Kimberly. The day started out sunny and warm but quickly turned overcast and rainy. We've always heard that Kimberly is very dry and hot - it poured with rain the entire time we were there!

The three sisters

It was wonderful to see Rob and to catch up with him. We went to John Dory's for half price sushi, and Ross and Rob had delicious chocolate, wafer and nut milkshakes.

Rob, working as a doctor in the Ophthalmology Department in the Kimberly Hospital, agreed to take a look at Ross's one, problematic eye. He put some eye-drops into the eye so that the pupil would dilate, and we waited. He thought that putting another drop in would speed up the process. That it did, alright! But then the pupil stayed dilated... for the next two days!! Luckily it isn't dangerous, and Ross had a good pair of sunglasses to combat the glare - it also helped that it was overcast for the next few days.
